I only sat up there once -- in May, 2001 -- the show was Follies, a Sat. night performance (the orchestra and mezzanine were totally sold-out). It was a very bad experience, impossible to appreciate the choreography properly. I haven't sat up there since but back in 2012 when I was seeing End of the Rainbow (in the orchestra) I walked up there to look around -- nice washrooms anyway and improved decor.

I don't mind the 2nd balcony at the Shubert, Cort, and Longacre, but the 2nd balconies at most of the other Broadway theaters seem a lot more distant from the stage.

Saw both Shakespeares from up there. RICHARD III--center Row B aisle. TWELFTH NIGHT--center Row A aisle. The Row B seat was ideal. Great stage view and no need to lean forward at all. The Row A seat was worse, because the railing does cut off the stage apron as ryhog mentioned a few posts ago. For $27 I'm not complaining. Not sure If HEDWIG is charging $70 or so for balcony though (I haven't looked at the prices, just guessing) I would take my chances waiting for discounts of TKTS/TDF.

Agreed that the balcony is now quite gorgeous, and the Belasco overall is one of--if not the--most beautiful theatre currently operating on Broadway.

Thanks for your comments. I agree that it definitely is beautiful up there. At some point I will probably venture up there for a play (when economics dictate that I need to), but it will not be for a musical.

I had a friend who sat up there for "Passing Strange" (on one of those Friday nights when the show, which often closed off the balcony altogether, was completely sold out), and she said that she sometimes had trouble hearing. Since "Hedwig" is similarly a rock musical, I'd hold off on buying up there until we know how the sound works.
