Peter Filichia has mentioned that in a couple of his columns. In his recent blog from Masterworks he speculates with tongue in cheek: I’d like to think that Rhoda had to have it after she’d heard the show’s original cast album. As a aside, the fabulous Marliyn Sokol was almost cast as Rhoda, but was deemed "too Jewish."
