Update on THE COAST OF UTOPIA in Berkeley

Posted by: BillEadie 01:25 am EST 02/06/14

So, the nice box office person at Shotgun gave me what was playing for the dates I'll be in SF:

Thursday, April 10th at 7pm will be Voyage
Friday, April 11th at 8pm will be Shipwreck
Saturday, April 12th at 3pm will be Shipwreck
Saturday, April 12th at 8pm will be Salvage

Unfortunately, my flight back to San Diego is Saturday late, so I can't get in Salvage while I'm there. Is it still worth seeing the other two, even though I won't catch the third play? Also, I'd appreciate some additional recommendations for alternatives, in case I decide to fill the Thursday evening, Friday evening, and Saturday afternoon slots with other shows.

Thanks,

Bill, in San Diego

Bill I enjoyed both Voyage and Shipwreck and I plan on seeing Salvage. You can catch both of my review on San Francisco achieves.

And read it on the way home it is a continuous story so you will want to know what happens. Wiki probably has a good summary of the final play.

Are you appearing in anything at that time? I'd make it a priority to see something in which you're performing.

I am, but it's way down in San Jose. I'm playing one of the Venticelli in a production of Amadeus. There aren't many details on the website yet (the theater's current show just opened, so the site's focused on that one right now), but we run Thursdays through Sundays from March 20 - April 19.

Totally understand if you can't get down to San Jose. It's not very easy without a car.

And, they only play an afternoon performance on Sunday, so that lets out filling the Saturday afternoon slot with Amadeus. I would have happily taken Caltrain to San Jose and then back to Millbrae/SFO on Saturday.

Sorry it's not going to work,

Bill

Also, maybe an ATC theatre outing for the matinee of April 12?

I really enjoyed the one get-together we had in Sacramento several years ago. Maybe we can find something that several on this board would like to see, get tickets to that show (maybe through Lynn O, group organizer extraordinaire), and then meet afterward for drinks/dinner before I have to head for the airport?

Just a thought. Anyone interested and want to suggest a show for us to see?

Bill, getting ready to nod off in San Diego
