Man in the Case--Berkeley Rep

Posted by: dramedy 01:35 pm EST 02/06/14

if you don't have tickets--be thankful. i saw this drek of a show last night. 80 pretentious minutes with visual aids and second rate dancing/movement to be avant garde that just was filler in an already short on subject matter in text--lets just draw the misery out with slow movements on the floor (camera projected on screen) etc. How this is getting the rave reviews is beyond me. It was a complete waste of time and $75. audience clapped, but no one stood.

Wow! Here's one that we disagree on, dramedy, I enjoyed it! I thought that Baryshnikov and Canale were absolutely wonderful. The show was a lot more "relatable" than IN PARIS, and I liked what minimal dancing there was as well, maybe because it's always a joy seeing Baryshnikov dancing at all... ? But I didn't find it pretentious nor drekish. I didn't give it a standing ovation, but lots of others around me did.

No comment. I just happen to like the show but we never agree on anything.

Since most of your reviews are "liked it
'---we occasionally agree.

i know someone else on this board that saw it and had the same opinion i did.

I'm with Dramedy. I didn't think it was drek, but it was pretty dull going.
