And I would argue it very much was a "gay play". The play was about a family that goes through hardship, but also, grows, in size, in the process.

I would agree if the gay best friend was just a character that passes through, but his journey, as well as the family taking him in, makes the play also about alternative families - very much on mission for NCTC.

I truly don't think every gay play has to only be about gay people, or even only have gay people as the central stories.

And especially if the audiences for those plays is going to grow, it should be about experiences that reflect or relate to the gay community, through any lens.
