| Just checking, I know of only a couple of people who post regularly, but I'm wondering if it's useful to post reviews of local Sacramento shows. | |

| If anyone is interested and would like to submit a few writing samples, we'd be happy to consider. We're all volunteers here, of course. | |

| That's wonderful! Kaoru? I don't think I'd be a good enough reviewer because I notice that reviewers usually research the show and have some of the history of the show in their reviews, and I don't have time to write that detailed of an article. Besides, I think I'm not very picky, and I'd probably love just about everything. Posting here on the board with a few quick lines suits me just fine -- I'm going to make a concerted effort to post my impressions of most of the shows I see from now on. (Another reason I'd be a bad reviewer: I try to stick with that old policy that mom taught me: If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all!) | |

| I am surprised there are not more posts about Sacramento's theater, especially the B Street Theater. I definitely would expect posts after every new show performed at the Music Circus. I really think Sacramento is one the most underrated theater communities in the country. | |

| I would love to see posts about the B Street Theatre here. I have season tickets, and will try to post about Music Circus shows this summer, as well as some of the community theatre shows around Sacramento. If we all agree to try to post more about the Sacramento theatre community, we won't be so underrated! ;-) | |

| As I said, I subscribe B st theatre and actually at one point, I subscribed all three series: main stage, B3, and Family series. I love to see different shows they introduce to us; however, given the fact it's a theatre "company," they cast their members in a show most of the time, which is great for these local actors, for the audience, not so much. Well at least for my enjoyment. Because I've seen B St so many years and am familiar with those actors' work, I can predict how they perform before even seeing the actual show. Rarely I was surprised to see a performance by certain actors. I'm not saying they should not cast the same company actors over and over again. But I want the director to challenge the actors, and the actors should push their own envelop. Sometimes I feel that they are just content within their comfort zone. I also wish they will perform a play that casts more than six actors. They tend to choose two person plays often even for the main stage. It's fine to see an intimate play but if that's all we are offered, well I would like to see more diversities. I'm sure things will change once they build and move to the new theatre complex. | |

| Now, see? I didn't even know that B Street had a "company" of performers. Do they ever do musicals? | |

| No, if they do, it's only at the Family Series. Their inaugural show was Frog and Toad which we LOVED. Unfortunately, after that, ther a Family Series shows are always "adapted" by their writer, I guess they don't want to pay the rights for the musicals. Some of their Family Series were actually quite good but others were not that good. Still I was very happy they did The Giver, one of my fav books. | |

| Wow I only knew two people from Sacto town on this site. I'm so glad to find out more theatre lovers around here. We need to get together sometimes. Which theaters do you frequently go? I subscribe to B st theatre, Sacramento Broadway series, Music Circus, and sometimes go to STC, Runaway Stage, Green Valley theatre, the theatre complex on R st/25th. This year I want to go to more local theaters! | |

| It would be fun to get together. We should organize who posts mini reviews of which local theatres, because you see a lot more local theatre than I do, Kaoru, but I want to see more. I subscribe to Music Circus, Sac Broadway, Sac Opera, and Green Valley Theatre Company. I sometimes go to STC and New Helvetia. Who is performing at the theatre complex on R/25th? | |

| I think there are four tiny theatres at the complex. Different companies use them I think. I saw Bare and Buried Child there. Does Green Valley sell the season subscription? I asked them twice and they kept saying the info coming soon and their season already started! | |

| No, GVTC didn't get their act together in time to sell season tickets, I asked the Artistic Director a couple of weeks ago. But I see everything there anyway, often multiple times depending on who is in the cast. :-) | |

| I can't help you about finding time, but often time you can find a local theatre discount tix at Goldstar. Yes they now have Sacramento page! Usually I can find a tix for $18 or less. Even B st theatre which doesn't use Goldstar offers $10 tix special if you subscribe their email blast, STC has a general rush 30 min before the curtain. I rarely pay a full price when I see a local theatre. Although I see shows via discount, I donate to local theatres during the season of giving too. | |

| I see lots of local theatre too, including shows at the theatres all of you have mentioned. I do a lot of work (acting and directing) at the Woodland Opera House. Their current production is a show I directed: SECOND-BEST BED, a world premiere comedy by local Sacramento playwright Matthew Abergel. I invite you all to come see it. | |
