SEMICOLON THEATRE COMPANY TO HOLD FIRST STAGED READINGS

Posted by: Official_Press_Release 06:46 am EDT 03/10/14

Semicolon Theatre Company, a new theatre collective by and for young artist in New York will offer it’s inaugural series of staged readings at Access Theater Gallery. Three presentations of Jacob Presson’s Very Bad Words and Emily Sheera Cutler’s The Road Trip will be offered March 13th, March 14th and March 15th at 7 PM. Reservations are currently open to the public.

Upon the launching of the theatre company, Very Bad Words and The Road Trip were selected among dozens of submissions last Fall. Both pieces deal with issues central to young adult life.

Very Bad Words, receiving its world premiere at The New York International Fringe Festival last summer, centers on three wealthy and entitled prep-schoolers. According to the New York Times, “American middle education is pilloried in Jacob Presson’s “Very Bad Words,” a bristling portrait of vanity, ambition and prejudice at an upper-middle-class Massachusetts high school.”

The Road Trip focuses on two teenage best friends who, at a major crossroad in their life, take a life changing and revelatory journey. Emily Sheera Cutler’s script is a recent winner of the Young Playwrights Inc. National Playwriting Competition.

Directed by Miranda Cornell, the staged readings will feature AMDA graduate Aleksa Kurbalija (Disney Channel’s As The Bell Rings), Pace University student Coleman Annison (ReLIEing On Family), Miranda Fayne, Anna Robinson, and Carly Siege.
The evening is associate directed and stage managed by Zoe Kamil with lighting design by Jarrett Sarnell, sound design by Henry Pearson and costume design by Corie Szwarc. Produced in association with Oliva Mancini and Andrew Keenan.

Access Theater Gallery is located at 380 Broadway at White Street. Reservations, which are required, can be made by visiting http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/588482.
