Matthew Murray takes a look at Hand to God: It's said that the devil's greatest trick is convincing people he doesn't exist. If that's true, then chances are he's never actually come back the way he's claimed to in Robert Askin's Hand to God, which just opened at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. A literal sock puppet named Tyrone, deceptively bearing a shock of tousled red hair and googly eyes and affixed to the left hand of a young man named Jason, he makes his presence known early and often, with a demonic bass-baritone voice that unleashes unending strings of profanity, and a mouth that's prone to bite off ears whenever it's not talking. . . .
