This production has been running at DCA for more than ten years. It plays four times a day, and cast members are crossed trained in various roles so that they can alternate throughout the day. The production was originally staged by Francescs Zambello.

The genie steals the show because he's also owed to ad lib lines based on current events or cultural trends. Apparently, Alan Menkin wrote one new song for this 45-minute production

Apparently, the Broadway version was based on the DCA version, though accidents in 2011 with the magic carpet led to elimination of the carpet flying sequence.

It is quite charming, consistently fills the theatre in which it is performed, and is many times a child's first theatre experience.

Bill, in San Diego
