Keikekaze, theatre people are definitely the weird ones living in an isolated, unrealistic world. That is not a criticism, but the arts are rather elitist and abstract. Having lived a very long time in both NY with my people of friends being theatre folk and "middle America" where my friends were everything but theatre folk, I can say arty people are more out of touch with reality, out of control in their personal lives, and quite a bit more likely to be less tolerant of those unlike themselves (not referring to race or sexuality, but to people's professional and ideological choices). I've adored the theatre world my whole life, but I can peacefully accept that someone's life can be fulfilling even if they never see show. Mine wouldn't be, but many people's are. And that's fine. Other people's lives don't need to meet the criteria you make for your life.
