i'm actually not a audiophile and i do digitalize my albums (or just buy the mp3s if i'm feeling lazy) so i can carry my music with me (which pretty much proves i'm no audiophile).

but the sound quality on so many cds -whether your talking about cast albums or jazz or pop - compared to the vinyl is so inferior it's almost like your hearing a different recording.

if you don't believe me listen to the vast difference in, say, anything recorded for motown and hear how much bottom is lost.

there are cast albums originally recorded for mono, hastily, lazily and cheaply converted to stereo and then converted from analogue to digital that have been stepped on so much they're almost unrecognizable.
