And A Hypothetical Question

lets just say, only for the sake of argument, that ROCKY bombs. lets say the reviews are awful. no tony wins, nothing. it holds on for a few months and then, lets say, the producers say, nope. we aren't selling tickets, we're going to close. now, i realize ROCKY is probably an expensive show to run but still.

why can't the producers, just to keep it open, do a radical drop in prices? i know that there are already discounts and i realize tkts sells at reduced prices but i mean make a big deal out of selling orchestra seats for, say, 76 dollars (i think the film came out in 76). would it work assuming folks bought significant numbers of tickets - which i think they would, especially for a title like ROCKY - at least enough to keep the show running for a couple of months, to say nothing of possibly making it available to an audience that might support it possibly even for a long run?

what's the problem with this?
