Why would you find a theatrical device eye rolling? If you need something that appears to be real and literal, go to the movies. The more theater tries to imitate film, the less thrilling and dull it becomes. The theatrical is thrilling. And this is what movies cannot (and do not) aspire to do. They try for total reality. Theater and film should be miles apart in their presentations.

AS much as I enjoyed Bridges, it needed a director who knows what to do with shaping a new show. Sher is a master with revivals, new shows not so much.
