You might be surprised--it might all be in the doing. Word is out that there is yet again a proposed film version, this time with Zach Galafanakis, who could be an inspired Ignatius.

Years ago (maybe as many as twenty), Frank Galati worked on a musical stage adaptation, which, IIRC, was workshopped at Louisiana State University (he was a Visiting Prof there for a semester). He would have had the right comic sensibility for it. It didn't go any farther (that I'm aware of). I think Scott Harlan, who was at NU when I was there, and who was Scott Rothburd while a student, played Ignatius. Wish I could remember more.
