oh god, where to start? well, there is the one i just listened to and is in my computer as i type- THE ACT. there are the two i am looking at on this desk that a friend just returned, BY THE BEAUTIFUL SEA and BEST FOOT FORWARD. if i walked into the room where the cds are i could type till my fingers became numb. i can tell you this - the only cast album i've ever heard recorded on lp that actually sounds better on cd is the last kritzerland release of the original FOLLIES. there are remastering techniques available now they didn't have for the bulk of the cd era (an era passing and passing quickly) that work wonders. the problem is far too few cast albums have been remastered. most transfers were pressed early on as cds were first introduced and never sold in numbers that encourage remastering. the absolute worst are the ben bagley revisited series. they were no great shakes even on vinyl but the cds i'm pretty sure were transferred using dixie cups and a piece of string.
