Usually the only time I come across the word "allegro" and I still do, is on sheet music or as the stated tempo for a symphonic movement as in "the 4th movement of X's Symphony (Allegro)". It is a musical term for meant to be performed in a lively manner, not quite as fast as "presto", but still pretty much indicates an up-tempo song or piece. The general public reading their program was a classical concert would come across the term, as would a musician. It just doesn't feel quite right to me for this musical which is about a doctor's life from birth to age 35.
