Yes, and Fonda was by that time a fairly well-established light comedienne, having done Tall Story, Period of Adjustment and Sunday in New York, with Barefoot in the Park on the horizon. Not that I ever thought comedy was Fonda's long suit: she was certainly pretty and had star presence, but there was always this odd sense that she didn't get any of the jokes.

It's been a long time since I've seen that Actors' Studio Three Sisters, but I recall that even if Dennis was extremely off-center casting for Irina, she was a lot more interesting than most anyone else in the show. (Well, not perhaps more interesting than Shelley Winters, but for different reasons.)
