Mothers and Sons today

I really enjoyed the play, some of the themes felt a little similar to Torch Song Trilogy but rather than Arnold in that play explaining his pain at the loss of a partner to his own bigoted mother it was a gay man and the mother of the deceased lover. I was moved by it and did have a tear in my eye at the final scenes. Tyne Daley is just an absolute legend in my eyes and it's a good part for her that allows her to show her range. I was really impressed with Bobby Steggert too, having only seen him in Big Fish before, this is a better role for him!

By the way a well known and respected theatre professional sitting in front of me whispered to his friend throughout much of the first half of the play, really he should have known better. Spotted on my row, Jessica Walter who plays the mother on Arrested Development.
