I agree with your basic points, but I think you lost a lot of people with what you said about "A Weekend in the Country." Even though Sondheim himself that the reason why people went out humming it at intermission was because they'd heard the melody six times in seven minutes. But he didn't say it was lousy — of course, he wouldn't — and I think most folks here like it a lot. That's not to say you're wrong. Just that it's not an opinion that many here probably share.
