Watching him conduct is beside the point: if you have never sat in a pit for a show, it is a rare and special privilege. Trust me, sitting in the house you have no idea of the amount of music that is being made by the hard-working musicians down in the depths. I realize that, for most people, it does not substitute for seeing the show from out front, but it is a wonderful and truly educational complement to the stage production for any lover of musical theater.
