Did [Stallone] change anything? Yes. Now instead of Rocky cracking five raw eggs into a glass for his morning energy drink like he did in the movie, it's just three eggs in the musical. I attribute this to a decline in the audience’s attention span over 38 years.

I'm assuming this is a joke - but I'm still trying to figure out who/what it's being aimed at, lol.

The intention is what EvFoDr posted just below.

While it is an exaggeration, of course, to point out Sylvester Stallone changed almost nothing, it is a bit of hyperbole that's very close to the truth. I viewed the DVD of the movie just five days before I saw the musical.

Yup, got it, lol. Though had you said "I attribute this to Stallone's sense of a decline in the audience’s attention span over 38 years" it might have registered faster. But no prob. ;-)

Either you appreciate the writing or not.

I interpreted it as a criticism that the extent of "adapting" his screenplay for the stage was to make a pretty pointless change that doesn't have anything to do with the kind of adaptation needed to convert something from screen to stage.

Eating raw eggs is dangerous. Stallone energy drink is a quick way to get food poising.
