I wonder if they changed much.

I don't think it could have changed much. From what I saw at yesterday's matinee, the play felt phony, forced and unbelievable from start to finish.

I'm sorry that this was my first time seeing Arianda perform live. I felt she was in another play - the 2013 one. Not that I cared that much for the rest of it, other than Kathleen Chalfant (though the jokey stuff written for her character was odd).

If you outlined the complete plot, I think it would seem that there's a good play there, but I didn't care for how it was done here.

And if you look up "meeting not cute" in the dictionary, you will find a photo of Helena and Bela.

Thank you. I[m with you True Fan. Coupled with the fact that after seeing Ms Arianda in 3 Broadway shows - I don;t get the brouhaha. She's competent. Beyond that? Not so much.

She's a wonderful comedian. I really enjoyed her in Born Yesterday. Not so much since then.

The Audience Voted with their Butts

One of the few times when there was NO Standing Ovation. Polite applause. A very simplistic spin on a subverted "Doll's House" premise. It was written in the style and manner of an afternoon soap opera. Too bad.

what an odd contradiction. your criteria for evaluating productions and performances have all the current relevancy of the actor's studio in the 1950s but your criteria for evaluating audience response is equivalent to tourist reactions to megamusicals?

it's possible for an audience to adequately express their delight without standing up en mass on cue.

you weren't at KINKY BOOTS.

i don't think i've seen a straight play receive a standing ovation at city center since blanchett and the sydney company brought their brilliant UNCLE VANYA.

you're more fun when your posts come off sounding like constance collier in STAGE DOOR.
