He is the weakest character in this play. And still have no idea what this play was about.

SPOILER: The fact that Steggert spent most of the end of the play off stage giving a bath to a 2nd grader was a bit creepy!

We saw seriously different plays. I and everyone around me loved it and engaged in a glorious conversation afterwards. The kind of experience that happens all too rarely. The entire company is wonderful. As powerful as it gets.

Weakest character as far as I'm concerned is little Bud -- a non-entity with a case of the cutes that one typically encounters in a sitcom or rom com. That said, Steggert's character is indeed weak: younger partner with chip on shoulder because older partner's dead lover -- a man he never knew but knows plenty about -- casts his shadow over their perfectly decent relationship.

Perfectly decent? That was one of the many interesting storylines in the play, was he decent? What was decent in gay life 20 years ago? He cheated on his bf, who knows how many times and yet the bf still loved him even though that cheating may have lead to his death and then to have his mother paint him as a saint... fascinating.

The decent relationship I referred to as having Andre's shadow cast upon it is the one between Cal (Weller) and Will (Steggert). I thought that was clear, but apparently not.
