He missed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week. He must have been ill. Based on good morning America, seems like he is better now.

*Please note that beginning April 3rd, Ramin Karimloo will not be performing on Thursday evenings for vocal rest. Prior to this date, he will not perform the Wednesday matinees taking place on March 19th and 26th.

In addition, Mr. Karimloo will not perform from May 19 – 22, 2014 due to a pre-existing professional obligation.

During these performances, the role of Jean Valjean will be performed by Aaron Walpole or Nathaniel Hackmann.

Anyone familiar with the work of Walpole and/or Hackmann? It seems like they will get ample opportunities to play the role.

And are they in the show normally or are they strictly standbys for Karimloo?

Walpole was on last night-he was AMAZING! He really was vocally incredible and I liked his acting choices.

I saw him last night (Walpole) and I didn't like his voice at first...although I think after seeing the whole show maybe he was being more gravely at the beginning as a character choice. Certainly won me over by the end. But honestly it was tough to get over the notice of Ramin being out. I knew I wasn't seeing one his scheduled absences, and I have seen this show SO many times that the main reason I went again was to see his lauded and praised performance. This was further exacerbated by the wonderful feature piece on Ramin that ran in the Times that had me REALLY excited about seeing him. Sigh.
