A new musical based on the life and songs of... My god, when will they learn that jukebox musicals based on "the life of" generally spell disaster? Perhaps particularly if the name is not a household/celeb name? (Some people, yes, will know who Berns was - but most may know his name about as well as they knew about Shlomo Carlebach, lol.) Furthermore, most of such shows actually do very little to nothing to make the "life" a compelling subject for a musical. I really think we all know such shows are really just an excuse to get the songs onstage - so they should just admit that, and do just that. Make it a revue and skip the book...please!!!
