FLASHDANCE - THE MUSICAL National Tour in Boston

Posted by: tapfrog 12:10 pm EDT 03/14/14

FLASHDANCE - THE MUSICAL delivers on its promise of electrifying dance, but its story is forgettable and fails to inspire. The stage adaptation has been a long time coming and although the Boston audience registered its approval, I'm not sure New York audiences will be as appreciative. The major hook is the all-consuming passion that Alex has for dance, but it is the ensemble dancers who shine in this production. Sydney Morton has the right persona and powerful vocal chops, but her big dance number is underwhelming. Corey Mach's singing is spot on, too, but they lack chemistry. Performances through March 23 at Citi Emerson Colonial Theatre.
