Haven't read the reviews yet, but I saw it last night and kept thinking "It's SPIDERMAN! ... A mildly entertaining spectacle, with a weak score, nicely staged, with no stars in the cast. And it'll probably run two years, then fold, and never make it's money back." I may be wrong. I may get the cast album and learn to love some of those songs, who knows? But those were my thoughts last night, as I watched it. And the fight is truly spectacular.
