Well, let's play with that for a sec, the same way pull quotes get routinely distorted to sound positive. We do tend to assume that "a rave" is a positive review. But "to rave" also has negative, angry connotations ("to rant and rave") - so one could try to twist the words, honestly pointing out that critics "raved" (negatively), but knowing that people not in the know will hear that as a positive. Crazy business this...;-)
