| Not this season. Wouldn't surprise me if they were able to come in next season, though. | |

| I went to the Barnes and Noble the other day for the CD signing and asked that question. Nothing definite yet, apparently. I was told, "We're working on it." | |

| It's a shame that it couldn't have come in this season where there's no standout new musical. It would have gotten a slew of Tony nominations and possibly a few big wins (Sydney Lucas, Sam Gold for directing, possibly even Best Musical). | |

| But there are standout new musicals... quite a few originals. And Fun Home is incredible but it's not a big show and I don't think it'll make the kind of splash you're thinking. But I really do hope it moves. | |

| Yes, I think in retrospect, "Fun Home" would have had a great chance at picking up some major awards. When they were running Off-Broadway, the word on "Rocky" from Germany was spectacular, and there was a belief that "Bridges" would make smart changes from its Williamstown run and be a smash. If either or both of those shows had hit their marks, "Fun Home" would likely have been swallowed up. It's a nice show, but it's definitely the type of musical that appeals to a smaller, less conventional audience. And while it is a better show than "Caroline", it's also less obviously Important. Personally, I think they would be smart to take this production on a tour of the larger regional theatres, the Goodman, Center Theatre, Arena Stage, etc. and let people around the country experience it that way. | |

| I definitely disagree that it's "a better show than 'Caroline'" ... I personally think Caroline is one of the best musicals ever written, certainly of the last 30 years, and Fun Home may be a great musical also, it isn't quite as genius to me as Caroline. I think both are "Important", one being a somewhat groundbreaking musical about involving black people and one being a somewhat groundbreaking musical involving gay people (and especially a gay woman/teenager), I don't think it's fair to discredit Caroline because it takes on an obviously important time period. Anything involving civil rights is going to end up seeming Important. | |

| See I didn't like Caroline AT ALL. (As I said above, I think Tesori wasn't to blame, it was more her lyricist I think-the venerated Tony Kushner. I think someone more like Heggie would have come up with better lyrics. I also found the story trite and trivial. I don't see what was so groundbreaking about it personally.) I love Fun Home-and have seen possibilities for it for awhile now. The graphic novel has quite a following-and that factor works in its favor. The show, from what I saw, had a mixed audience in its demographics. I think it's really got a chance-and sure deserves one-to reach a wider audience. I'm hoping next season we get a transfer. | |

| I would recommend checking on the cast album of Caroline. Maybe you'll see what I see in it. I think the music is incredible and I think the lyrics are great. One of the things I love about them is that they don't sound like typical musical theater lyrics - they sound like a sometimes-lyrical play put to music. They don't always rhyme but I never listen and think about it because they seem to fit so perfectly. And when it does rhyme (which is actually very often), the places that Kushner (and Tesori) find for a rhyme, in the sounds of the words and the placement on the music, is incredible and interesting. And also, as a play, conceptually, and plot and character and theme and tone-wise, I love it and find it to be that all-too-thrown-around "b" word... brilliant. | |

| I've listened to it. I cannot get into it. I understand that other people love it. I just don't find it very good. | |
