Yes, I think in retrospect, "Fun Home" would have had a great chance at picking up some major awards. When they were running Off-Broadway, the word on "Rocky" from Germany was spectacular, and there was a belief that "Bridges" would make smart changes from its Williamstown run and be a smash.

If either or both of those shows had hit their marks, "Fun Home" would likely have been swallowed up. It's a nice show, but it's definitely the type of musical that appeals to a smaller, less conventional audience. And while it is a better show than "Caroline", it's also less obviously Important.

Personally, I think they would be smart to take this production on a tour of the larger regional theatres, the Goodman, Center Theatre, Arena Stage, etc. and let people around the country experience it that way.
