Martin, Sasha Allen, Keala Settle, and Nicole Parker. Phil Reno will serve as Musical Director. Additional performers will be announced at a later date. Miscast 2014 will be held Monday, March 31, 2014 at The Hammerstein Ballroom (311 West 34th Street). The evening will begin with a cocktail hour and gala dinner followed by the Miscast performances. Up-and-coming performers may want to bid on: a private dance lesson with Tony® Award winning choreographer Jerry Mitchell; a private session with Bernie Telsey; or an audition coaching session with a top Broadway casting agent and a legendary Broadway performer, among many others; among many others. MCC Theater's annual Miscast gala is one of the most exciting and unique theater events in town. Broadway’s hottest stars perform songs from roles in which they would never be cast. Miscast 2014 will feature musical performances from: Zosia Mamet, star of HBO’s “Girls” and last season’s hit MCC production Really Really; Tony® Award winner Billy Porter, star of the Broadway smash Kinky Boots; Tony® Award nominee Jeremy Jordan, who will next be seen in the film adaptation of The Last Five Years opposite Anna Kendrick; Tony® Award winner Anika Noni Rose, soon to be seen in Broadway’s A Raisin in the Sun; Tony® Award winner Lin-Manuel Miranda, composer of In the Heights; Tony® Award nominee Raul Esparza, notably of Company and Taboo; Steven Pasquale of FX’s “Rescue Me” and currently starring in Broadway’s The Bridges of Madison County; stage and screen star Megan Hilty of NBC’s “Smash”; NBC’s “The Voice” finalist and stage actress Sasha Allen; Tony® Award nominee Keala Settle, currently seen in the Broadway revival of Les Miserables; and “Mad TV” and Wicked star Nicole Parker. As previously announced, this year’s Miscast gala will honor award-winning actress Allison Janney. Ms. Janney will be celebrated for her bold, daring, risk-taking spirit and for her extraordinary career on stage, in film, and on television, including memorable roles in the Oscar-winning films American Beauty, The Help, and Juno, among many others, and her unforgettable work on NBC’s “The West Wing” and new hit CBS sitcom “Mom.” Her history with MCC Theater dates back two decades, including a main stage appearance in Alan Ball’s Five Women Wearing the Same Dress in 1993, Annie Evans’ I Can’t Stop Thinking Today, and MCC’s early play marathons. The evening will be hosted by theater veteran and film star Victor Garber, returning as host for the second year in a row. Proceeds from Miscast 2014 will, as always, support MCC Theater’s mission to develop and produce exciting work Off-Broadway, as well as its Youth Company and partnerships with New York City public high schools, and MCC’s literary development work with emerging playwrights.
