"I have said before that the idea of a musical based on a century old painting would have caused me to be quite a bit more than skeptical, and probably be bored to tears in the theatre." But, in fairness, to say that SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE is "a musical based on a century-old painting" is misleading. The show is primarily about the man who created the painting, and about the creative process. "An inebriated monologue part sung in a musical o(e)uvre not of my usual taste turned into one of the most stirring visions of humanity ever put on stage." What show is that??!!
