The Grammercy Theatre began its current life as a commercial off-Broadway theatre. One thing I remember seeing there was DINAH WAS, which I actually saw twice, once with original leading lady Yvette Freeman and later with her replacement, Lillias White. Adriene Lenox was terrific in it both times.

Then the Roundabout produced their off-Broadway productions there for several years after losing their home at the old Criterion Center and before they moved into what is now the Steinberg Center.

It's a bit out of the way, I suppose, but the theatre itself is lovely and the raked seating meant there wasn't a bad seat in the house.
