Those who lack them may consider possessions to be effective insulation from life's tragedies, but that's not always the case. The dehumanizing effects of loss — of money, of love, of decency — can afflict anyone, and they're front and center in Tales From Red Vienna, the play by David Grimm that just opened at Manhattan Theatre Club Stage I. In it, a host of people from various walks of life, who are all facing debilitating challenges in post–World War I Vienna, must learn to cope with what they've always known no longer bearing a tangible resemblance to what they have. . . .
