As it's been discussed, this is Broadway season packed with Best Actress possibilities: Sutton Foster, Idina Menzel, Jessie Mueller, Kelli O'Hara, Michelle Williams, etc. ... That's gonna be one of the most competitive categories.

But is Mazzie a Leading Actress or a Featured Actress in ''Bullets''? Right now, she's billed below the title, but the producers could petition to bump her up. (Dianne Wiest, who played Helen on film, won the Oscar for Supporting.)

Or would Mazzie's chances be better in Featured Actress? Then again, she could be competing against her ''Bullets'' co-stars, and fellow Tony nominees could include Helene Yorke, Karen Ziemba and Betsy Wolfe. It's a tricky situation.

I haven't seen it yet, but if the buzz about the other women in the cast is to be believed, it seems the producers would be silly to allow Marin to remain in the featured category and possibly deprive nominations or awards to the others. (Of course, as we know, it isn't fully up to the producers. Sometimes the Tony Administration Commitee makes up their own minds about these matters, no matter the petitioning.)

Mazzie is wonderful in Bullets but the role is much smaller than than other potential nominees for best actress this season and while I liked her very much in Bullets winning a Tony for this role over O'Hara or Menzel who have bigger roles which allow them more opportunity to shine seems unbelievable to me. She gets second to last bow but it is a large supporting role. Also working against her is that her first scene is her best in the show. Braff is the only lead in Bullets.

Also, what makes everyone think Mazzie is locked for a nomination regardless of what category she is in? Perhaps if she is in Featured she won't get one over her co-stars if they are favored by the committee and so are stand outs from other shows.

I think it would be near impossible for her to win the Best Actress this year... if it doesn't go to Idina I'm guessing it will probably go to Williams or O'Hara. But then again, I know as little as anyone else who is speculating uselessly and I haven't personally seen any of the performances I'm talking about!

I don't think Idina has a chance. I thought the show was poorly written and her performance bland. Yorke and Mazzie were SUPERIOR in every way. I'm an Idina fan, but I found the show dull.

Just my opinion.
