T. Schreiber Studio and Theatre presents

Yasmine Beverly Rana's

BLOOD SKY

Directed by Terry Schreiber

Playing through April 6 at T. Schreiber Studio and Theatre

A young woman in three ages of her life is haunted by her past, struggles to protect herself in her present and looks back to her younger self from her future in BLOOD SKY, Yasmine Beverly Rana’s intimate and haunting look at a rural childhood filled with hopes, dreams, fears and dread.

Now playing through April 6, BLOOD SKY will be performed Wednesdays through Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 2pm and 8pm, and Sundays at 3pm at T. Schreiber Studio and Theatre (151 West 26th Street, 7th Floor). Members of the Press are invited to review any performance.

BLOOD SKY marks the second work by Yasmine Beverly Rana presented by T. Schreiber Studio and Theatre. Rana’s THE FALLEN was produced there to critical acclaim in 2013. (“Watching THE FALLEN is a refreshing reminder of the raw power a good play possesses in the hands of an astute director.” – Roma Torre, NY1). BLOOD SKY is directed by legendary theatre director and teacher Terry Schreiber, and is accompanied by an evocative and distinctive musical composition and sound design by Andy Evan Cohen.

Joley, a girl from a small town along the Mississippi, has been an outsider all her life, existing alongside but always estranged from her mother, her community and her schoolmates. Then, she meets a mysterious stranger who seems to know her far better than anyone's she's met before. But once she lets him get past her defenses, she's horrified at what she finds, both in him and in herself. When Joley finds the courage to leave with a boy who would take care of her – if only she could trust him – try as she might, she can't forget what happened years earlier, memories which come flooding back with the silence of the night and the blood red sky overhead.

General Admission tickets are $20 and can be purchased through OvationTix by calling 212.352.3101 or online at http://www.tschreiber.org/productions/now-playing/

The cast of BLOOD SKY features Kristin Eli Smith, Kelly Kolatac (The Sopranos - Featured), Jimmy Cintron, Samantha Rivers Cole, Tim Weinert, Victoria Guthrie, Brian Shaffer, and David Hamzik.
