As much as I love most of CITY OF ANGELS the "Hollywood" ending just kills for me. I know the original creative team famously tried a number of different endings and couldn't get any to work and ended up just throwing up their hands putting in the current non-ending at the last moment due to time constraints. And that's what it has always felt like to me...tacked on at the last moment for lack of anything better.
