Here's a novel idea: instead of parsing and reparsing a sentence in an interview that likely means nothing, and may not even be accurate, and that certainly doesn't say what you are trying to make it say (effete as effeminate), why don't we wait to see the fucking performance and decide if we like it or not? How many interviews do you think he gave the day he did this one? Do you think the Hedwig we are going to see is dictated by what you read in a frequently unreliable website? I just don't get this.

sorry to annoy you. I'll be in town for 2 days at hotel prices. I'm SURE i want to see violet and rocky. the third slot is up for grabs. I have awesome memories of John Cameron Mitchell and the only reason I'd consider seeing this is that I hear a lot of the original creative team is involved. otherwise I'd stick to my memories. Regardless of how many interviews he's given in a day if that's the way NPH sees this character I'll spend my money elsewhere. I've also seen a bad local production of Hedwig (with a very big name) and one trip down that road is enough.

nothing to feel sorry for. I am not annoyed. And I understand the fine art of handicapping a limited number of options, and of not wanting to spoil treasured memories. I'm sure I've seen a worse Hedwig than you (the one that dares not speak its name), and I wish you well in making choices you're happy with, but I just don't think there is anything in what you are relying on that's meaningful. Honestly, if I were you, I think I'd look for something else because I would be worried about being disappointment. anyway, good luck.
