Richard reviews the Berkeley Rep/Yale Rep co-production of Accidental Death of an Anarchist, which runs through April 20 in Berkeley; and TheatreWorks' Once on This Island, through March 30 in Palo Alto.

Because the audience did not need a break from laughing too hard. There are some chuckles here and there and a few out loud laughs, but not many. And the left liberal speeches at the end are preaching to choir when it comes to berkeley rep,audience. A dismal evening in my book. With man in a case and this, I've had enough of this dark absurdist "farces" at berkeley rep.

Give me noises off for a laugh.

It may just be the play. I've seen it a few times -- with expert farce actors -- and it always just lays there. There's something about Fo and American audiences that doesn't necessarily make for entertainment.
