Thank you all for the recommendation. I have always avoided the show thinking it was another musical destined for the well of high school musical productions that has minimal appeal to others. Theatreworks brought fire and passion to this show. I felt fortunate to see an exemplary professional production and learn the power of the piece. Salisha Thomas is absolutely stunning. She alone is worth the price of admission. What a voice! My only hesitation in joining in unanimous praise is that I struggled in the first few numbers to understand lyrics from those who overplayed the accent. Ultimately my ear improved, or the performers tired of concentrating on the gimmick. Well worth the time to catch this production.
