Some cases are debatable, but to me, Jacobs is clearly the lead in ''Aladdin.'' Besides being the title character, it's his story. He gets the love interest (2 duets with Jasmine); the arc of the piece is about his transformation. Aladdin also has more stage time: He's in 8 numbers, a reprise and the finale; Genie's in 5 numbers and the finale.

Then again, who knows what Disney will do? For ''Newsies,'' they submitted Kara Lindsay for Leading Actress and Ben Fankhauser for Leading Actor (even though Jeremy Jordan was a slam-dunk for a nomination here). That was a bad call. Lindsay and Fankhauser were Tony-worthy, but they should've been in Featured; their roles weren't big enough for Leading. (Lindsay would've been a shoo-in for a Featured nod; Elizabeth A. Davis (''Once'') got one for a much smaller part.)

If Disney is savvy, they'll leave Iglehart in Featured. (As for what the Tony committee decides, who knows?)

But I agree with you about Javert. ''Les Miz'' is Jean Valjean's story and he gets tons more stage time. Javert should be Featured. But in the original production, Colm Wilkinson and Terrence Mann were both up for Leading Actor.
