... although 'Seventeen' sounds SO much like a song from Spring Awakening.

I really didnt think much of the score, and the lyrics I felt were dim throughout - one problem was why did the Heathers always dance in unison with everyone else - that made no sense.

Why did Veronica dance joyfully and sing at the two boys funeral? Why was the choreography so mediocre? Why weren't all the families rich as in the film? Why wasn't veronica already a Heather as in the film.

And the truly patronizing cynical 'Dad's are gay' song.

Whats with the lame liverwurst sub plot? Really?

The audience. There was the usual cluster of musical previews screamers to whom this was the greatest night of their lives ever. I feel for them.

Beyond that - many jokes, like 'liverwurst' and 'he blew' and about 150 others were met with total silence. Crude physical humor got big laughs. A few jokes got low level laughs.

At the end , about 1/3 of the orchestra level audience stood. People around me specifically - six people nearby barely ever applauded and collected their coats and left during the curtain call.
