On the dialogue side, the biggest surprise to me was that when Kathy Selden (Debbie Reynolds) was dubbing Lina Lamont's (Jean Hagen's) voice in the movie within the movie, Hagen is dubbing for Reynolds.

On the one hand, it's not necessarily good dubbing... Reynolds in those lines sounds absolutely nothing like she does in every other line she has in the movie. But the irony of it being Hagen's voice we're hearing is what made it so surprising.
