It would not surprise me if Clancy O'Connor, the New York understudy, is able to make a career for awhile playing the show in regional theatres. He was featured in a big article not too long ago about the producers deciding to put him on during Michael Urie's vacation instead of cancelling the performances and got praise from everyone involved.

If I were running a theatre somewhere and I couldn't get Urie, I'd happily take the New York understudy who was the subject of that glowing article.
