I agree that it's Tom's story, but I've seen several productions of ''Glass Menagerie'' and Amanda always walks off with it because she's got the most colorful character. As opposed to Tom, who's more passive and gives poetic speeches.

Even in the original production, it's Laurette Taylor who won the acclaim, not Eddie Dowling. It's how Tennessee wrote it.
