You don't see the difference between M. Valjean and M. V. Jean? It's not like the name hasn't been printed in thousands upon thousands of programmes and CD booklets by now. Even print journalists reviewing the film managed to spell it properly (an achievement, given that almost none of their counterparts on TV could manage to pronounce 'misérables'). It's one word, not two. It's not that difficult.
