I think it's better to not remember the movie preciously when you see the show, because, as I've said here, adapting the lines and humor of the movie isn't the show's strongest suite. But as for a making a stage musical inspired by the movie, with the same plot, it does that around 70% very well (or did when I saw it in LA).
