Levi brings the levity: Why he deserves a Tony nod

I agree that Zachary Levi doesn't stand the best chance at scoring a Tony nomination. Even though he opened to largely raves, ''First Date'' closed a couple of months ago and is probably considered too lightweight for awards.

But Levi made a dynamite Broadway debut. He took what could be a familiar stock character (a nebbishly nice guy on a date), and through his sheer charisma, comic timing, impeccable delivery and facial expressions turned him into pure gold.

I still crack up when I think of a funny face he made when he was ''frozen'' at the very moment he was eating a pickle.

Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner also wrote a hilarious 11 o'clock number for Levi's character, Aaron, in which he lists everything wrong with his ex. Levi turned it into a rousing tour de force that always brought down the house.
