Actually it was only that one whorehouse scene where stuff was going on all over the place that distracted from the main events (maybe there were a couple of other times). But, unless your enjoy the voyeurism (and why not), just focus on the really good stuff -- the fine singing, the fascinating art songs, the silly plot and the fact that characters and shenanigans written 300 years ago and interpolated 80 years ago still resonate and entertain.
