- Judging by what you write and the confirmation by AFan below this post, I think you are correct. I guess I missed it when Kate and Lucas do indeed meet for the first time in Madison Square Park at the top of the show. And, yes, now that I think about it, if both Kate and Lucas were old friends, they probably travelled in the same circles and therefore knew each other. But, then, they could have been Elizabeth's old friends from two different circles, like college and work, who never mixed. But I like your explanation better. It is also interesting that Kate, a new friend, calls Elizabeth Liz because that's the way Elizabeth probably introduced herself, whereas years ago, she was known as Beth to Lucas. Again, all part of the character splitting in two. Thanks for the comments. (AFan, too) -
